Mosaic Tiles are a very popular choice. They are available as Ceramic Mosaic Tiles, Mirror Mosaics, Metal Mosaics, Metal effect Mosaics, Porcelain Mosaics, Stone and Glass Mosaics.

These mosaic tiles can be used to make some wonderful, intricate patterns – both floor patterns and patterned walls.

Often with a mesh backing to make tiling easier, mosaics tend to be sold in 30 x 30 cm sheets. You can get small 2cm x 2cm mosaics, are quite wide larger mosaic tiles.

As mosaic tiles can be relatively expensive, and create quite an intense effect, small sections of mosaics are often added to other types of tiled areas. This works particularly well if the material used for the mosaics is the same as for your regular tiles, or the very least of a complimentary material.

There are also a wide range of mosaic effect tiles that can be used to almost the same effect.

Mosaic Tiles are a good choice as kitchen tiles and as bathroom tiles as wall tiles, and are also a great choice for flooring in hallways as Olde Victorian Style Tiling or more modern Mediterranean style flooring.

Generally, for intricate floor designs like these, it is possible to get these mosaics in predefined patterns purchased by the square metre. The same geometric tile pattern is often available in a wide number of colour combinations.

Of course retiling a large old Victorian tiled hallway could be quite expensive, so it’s worth considering repairing an existing traditional tiled hallway, rather than fully replacing it. These enables it to maintain an antiquity value, whilst stopping it from looking old and tired, and having dangerously loose tiling. Look out for Olde Victorian Spares from some of the major tile companies.
