Border Tiles

Border Tiles are available in all different shapes and sizes, from small border tiles in regular shapes, such as 2x2cm small mosaic tiles to larger border tiles with intricate detailing.

A further interesting border tile is a dado rail, dado tile or dado strip. These raised, thin rectangular tiles can give a further dimension to your walls, and are available in a range of styles and finishes.

The range of border tiles that can be found is extensive, and includes glass border tiles, colour blended tiles, mosaic effect tiles, metallic tiles and metallic effect tiles, glitter glass tiles, rope profile strips, bevelled tiles and tumbled tiles.

Smaller tiles, such as mosaics, will often come on a mesh backing, making them particularly easy to work with.

Border tiles are also often referred to as Listello, or Listels, which is their Italian name.  They are popular European choice.

Border tiles can be an effective way to break up big blocks of colour and introduce accented colour themes to your home. For instance, a plain white kitchen with some accent of red thrown in by the clever use of red border tiles, a few red kitchen appliances, and some red flowers in a vase can quickly update a plain kitchen – and because you’ve only used a small amount of tiling to achieve the effect, the colour itself can be easily and cheaply updated without having to retile the entire kitchen. Having this option to quickly and cheaply update your kitchen will also make it a better long term investment for the future.
