From a utilitarian subway style tile to colourful mosaics, the range of tiles available for your bathroom walls is extensive. They can be used well for shower wall tiling, and for even tiling a whole shower room or wet room.
Metallic Effect tiles which are typically Ceramic Tiles with an overlay of metallic colour make a great impact in a small bathroom, reflecting any light to give the illusion of greater size. They are also fabulous at minimising limescale markings, a common issue for people living in hardwater areas. This makes them a particularly appropriate choice for shower and over sink splash backs.
Mosaic Tiles in bathrooms are a popular choice, but be aware of the additional grout you’ll need to purchase, and, more importantly, maintain. A good grout choice for areas which attract water deposits, such as wall splashbacks and, of course, the floor, is a coloured grout, in a shade that complements your overall colour scheme.
A bathroom is often a well used area of the home, and has more than it’s fair share of steam and water, which in turn can provide a damp environment. Wall paper and paint never do well in damp environments. Wall paper has a tendency to peel, whilst painted surfaces can bubble up or flake off. Tiling is a better long term solution as it is not affected in either of these ways. Tiles can be inexpensive, and over the long term a tiled bathroom wall represents good value for money.
